52 Week Challenge - May

May has been a busy month with a lot of ups and downs, but as always I made some time to get in some photos.

Late in April I picked up the latest WWE Elite Summerslam wave of action figures. This was an attempt at using Affinity photo to add in a background. I can't say I'm crazy exactly crazy about how it turned out.  It's not terrible, but it's not great. That being said, as a first attempt it was a good learning what not to do and how much better getting a real background from extreme sets would be.

With spring finally showing it's face, we got back out on the road exploring small towns and Saskatchewan back roads. While driving to pick up a friend and take them home, we passed by this building several times.  On the last pass I pulled over to get what I could.  What you can't see is how this abandoned "Memorial Hall" sits by itself in what looks like the middle of the nowhere, sitting alone and apparently forgotten.

If that photo of Stone Cold Steve Austin was slightly disappointing to me, this one of Stan Lee made got me excited. So much so, that I got a couple copies printed for my vendor booth.  Hopefully someone else will be just as excited about this piece and take home a copy of it.

I still don't know how I became a birder, or maybe it's just a sign that I'm getting old and boring, but I'll be damned if taking pictures of the birds in my backyard isn't a highlight of my summer. If you read my last post, you'll know that this little flicker and its mate has taken up residence in my tree again this summer and has been providing me ample photographic oppourtunites and chances to test out the OM1's bird detect autofocus mode. If they are anything like they were last year, the babies will be hatching soon and by early July they will have moved on. So in the meantime I'll keep shooting as much as I can and hopefully get a chance to get a photo of the babies this year.
